Dunure Castle Sunset

Dunure Castle located on the South Ayrshire coast is one of those locations I just can’t help but revisit time and time again (and indeed on this website you will probably come across many other of my photos taken there too).

Being an Ayrshire lad myself it holds a very special place in my heart, I have had many, many happy memories there with family, friends and even just by myself.

This particular photo was taken on the 20th March 2016 it was the first day of Spring and I wanted to mark the occasion by watching the sunset there.

Although the site of the castle dates back to the 13th Century most of what is visible today wasn’t built until between the 15th and 16th Century. Unfortunately by 1694 the castle was already in ruins and it has been slowly degrading ever since.
